Vacancy: AOE – Primary School Bursar

The Bursar is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the school, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Academy of Excellence is an independent school in Bloemfontein, Free State.
The following criteria is required:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial position.
  • A significant level of computer literacy, Microsoft Excel, and experience in the Xero accounting system

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of debt collection and financial administration.
  • Manage debtor clerks’ team
  • Strong people skills – work efficiently with parents, management and staff..
  • Oversee financial transactions and accounting processes (bank processing, bank reconciliation, invoicing of clients, review of account statements, resolving account queries with debtors’ team, loading of purchase orders, loading and processing of supplier invoices)
  • Loading of leave requests for maintenance staff.
  • Managing the procurement for the school maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
  • Prepare financial reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Manager on financial planning.
  • Support role to the SMT of the school, and the principal.

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Deadline driven
  • Strong people skills
